Don Edward SMITH

News Death Notice

SMITH, Don Edward Fort Thomas, KY, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014. Don died peacefully in his sleep at the Veterans Administration in Cincinnati, Oh. Don was 71 years old. He was a member of the United States Army for seven years. He received an honorable discharge and several metals in addition to being a rifle marksman and a sharpshooter. Don served two duties in Vietnam at the height of the Vietnam War. Don was born on November 16, 1943, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born to the late Edward and Elizabeth Smith. He was the third of six children. He was the only son of the union and was very attentive to his older and younger sisters. He was preceded in death by his sons, Don Edward Smith Jr, infant son, Dion Smith, parents, Edward and Elizabeth Smith, of, two sisters, Clydetta Coatie, and Judith Barnes who was also a long resident of. He leaves to mourn his passing, daughter, Donnice Smith, son, D'juan Smith and son, Shabaka Parker (Melanie). He is also survived by sisters, Maggie Fitts. Tonya Lindsey, and Cassandra Patikas (Michael). Survivors also include a host of family and friends. Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Ralph, Meyer, & Deters Funeral Home of Cincinnati, Oh. A memorial service will be held at Mt Zion Church of Christ, officiated by Pastor Carl B. Norton, 548 Anna Street, Dayton, Ohio at 10:45-11:45 a.m. Interment following at Dayton National Cemetery.
