Dorothea HOSKET

News Death Notice

HOSKET, Dorothea of Dayton and Bellbrook died on May 31, 2013, shortly after her 96th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; survived by son, Terry (Linda Mallon), daughter Linda Lightcap (Richard), grandchildren Kathy and Scott, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Dorothea was a wife and mother who had a loving, gentle and generous spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. When Herb served in Europe during WWII, they wrote to each other often and she kept his letters, more than 300 in all. Reading them today reveals the sacrifice and love they shared which was the basis for their 50 year marriage. Through her 90's Mom enjoyed a daily glass of wine or coffee with Bailey's; and since she once was the 'Catalogue Queen' of Bellbrook we need to thank our mail carriers Richard, Andy and Susan. Thanks also to her caregivers at Avalon Otterbein in Springboro for their outstanding dedication to her well-being. Their love and attention were always evident. Thanks as well to Nancy G. and Sammy, Wilson and Pastors Mark and Richard, all from Dorothea's church, Emmanuel Lutheran, for their constancy of concern, prayers and visits. In lieu of flowers please donate to TRI, the Therapeutic Riding Institute for the Disabled and Home of Horses Assisting Heroes for Veterans. TRI, Box 750664, Dayton, Ohio 45475. Visitation at CONNER & KOCH in Bellbrook (848-6651), on Monday June 3 from 5-7 P.M. Graveside service at David Cemetery Tuesday, June 4 at 10:00 am.
