News Death Notice

LUTEN, Dorothy Mason 87, passed away on Thursday March 6, 2014 at her home. She was born in Frankfort, Kentucky on March 24, 1927. She graduated from Mayo-Underwood High School and attended Kentucky State College (University). She moved to Dayton Ohio where she met and married Perry Luten, now deceased. She worked at Wright Patterson Air force base until she retired. She was a devoted daughter of Robert and Laura Mason, also deceased. Her older sister, Mary and brother Robert also preceded her in death. Dorothy could always be counted on to help anyone in need. She went out of her way to provide whatever help she could, expecting nothing in return. She always wanted to make sure everyone else was OK, often ignoring her own pain and limitations to provide comfort and assistance to others. She was a loving caretaker of her mother and sister for years before they passed. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories, a loving sister, Roumania Mason Marshall, dear friends Billye Beasley, Shirley and Dr. Jim Frazer, Loreta Gray, Helen Gray, Dr. Allison Brown, Pauline Puckett, Marjorie Mays, among others and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be at the BETHYL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH 401 S. Paul Laurence Dunbar St, Dayton Ohio at 12 noon on Thursday March 13, 2014. Viewing prior to the service.
