News Death Notice

McCORKLE, Duane age 79 of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born in Tipton, Indiana to the late Ival and Mildred (Safford) McCorkle. He had retired from Conrail after many years of service, and after retiring became a licensed realtor. Duane was a veteran having proudly served in the U.S. Army. He attended Salem Church of God, was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway, on the Dayton Area Board of Realtors and was past president of the Meadowdale Athletic Club. He attended LaSalle University and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his loving wife: Rhea Colleen (Vollenhals) McCorkle, daughters: Diana McCorkle of West Carrollton, Brenda (Eric) Longenecker of Dayton, Michelle (David Smith) Crace of Englewood, Lisa (Thomas Jr.) Lee of Dayton, son: Barry McCorkle of Dayton, grandchildren: Dennis and Andrew Longenecker, Amanda Crace, Brittany, Tanner and Garrett Lee, sisters: Eileen (Jim) Pore of Tipton, IN, Judith (Jack) Romines of San Antonio, brother: Michael McCorkle of San Antonio, many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brothers: Max, David, Thomas and Phillip McCorkle, sisters: Marilyn Timmons, Joreen DeLawter, Iva McCorkle and son-in-law: Rodney Crace. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood) and on Thursday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Christian Life Center (3489 Little York Rd., Dayton) with Pastor Elizabeth Martin and Rev. Kevin Wardlaw officiating. Interment will follow the service at Polk Grove Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton, Good Samaritan Hospital and Health Center or the .
