Emerson W. HEISLER


News Death Notice

HEISLER, Emerson W. Age 84, died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014. He was preceded by his son, Mark; brother, Mike and nephew, Dale. He is survived by his cherished wife of 62 years, Lillian; his beloved daughter, Marta Heisler Surgener and her husband and "second son" Damon Surgener of Lexington, Kentucky; granddaughters, Arrianna Heisler of Cleveland, Ohio and Ashley Heisler of Tampa, Florida; loving sister, Donna Neyman of Mayfield Village, Ohio; and several much beloved nephews and their spouses and children. He graduated from Ohio University in 1952 with a Degree in Civil Engineering. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during The Korean War. Joining U.S. Steel Corporation upon the end of Air Force active duty, he worked in Cleveland and Pittsburgh, ultimately as manager of Wire Construction Products for all of U.S. Steel. He and his family moved in 1967 to Dayton to join Price Brothers Company, and retired in 1994 as President. An active member of many civic and professional organizations, among them: The YMCA of Greater Dayton (Board Member), Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Dayton (Past President), American Society of Civil Engineers (Life Member), Wire Reinforcement Institute (Past President and Life Member), American Concrete Pipe Association (Past Chairman and Life Member), and American Spring Wire Corporation (Director). He dedicated his body to Boonshoft School of Medicine, Wright State University. A Celebration of Emerson's life will be held at David's United Church of Christ, 170 West David Road, Kettering, Ohio on Saturday, February 15th at 12:30 PM. Contributions may be made in Emerson's memory to the Markey Cancer Center Foundation, 800 Rose Street, Lexington, Kentucky 40536, in lieu of flowers.
