News Death Notice

RAPELYE, Eugene C. Age 84 of Jamestown, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Rapelye, two brothers, Robert and Joseph Rapelye and three sisters and brothers-in-law: Gemma Harris (Bill), Anne Marie Casimiro (Anthony) and Barbara Villardi-Jacobellis (Al). He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fran Rapelye; two daughters also survive him: Adele Rapelye and husband Paul Thompson of Mechanicsburg and Pamela Kingsolver and husband Vernon of Jamestown. Five grandchildren survive him: Christopher Kingsolver, Nikki Gould and husband Greg, Katie Wade and husband Patrick, Coriena Rapelye-Thompson and Michael Rapelye-Thompson, as do two great-grandchildren, Jace Wade and Sadie Williamson. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. Eugene has worked for the RTA as a bus driver, sold cars at local dealerships including Walker Pontiac and as a delivery truck driver for Elder-Beerman. He was also a Real Estate investor, serving as President of the Greater Dayton Real Estate Investor's Association and was the owner-operator of Bellbrook Canoe Rental and Limousine Service. His family wishes to extend special thanks to the staffs of both Miami Valley Hospital and Hospice of Dayton as well as to Doug, Shilo and Shyanne McDaniel, Amy and Gary Test and family and Tony and Shelley Tidd and family. Friends may call at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. at Grange Hall on Friday evening, March 7, 2014 from 5-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11 AM on Saturday, March 8. Entombment will be at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
