News Death Notice

VANCE, Geneva J. (Powers) age 96 of Dayton, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013. She was a member for more than 50 years at Memorial Baptist Church where she was a deaconess and Sunday school teacher. Geneva had also worked with the Girl Scouts and at the election polls where she received an honorary 30 year award and was a Kentucky Colonel. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Kent Leiter of Tipp City, Janet and Joe Renner of Englewood, David Loxley of Greenville, grandchildren and spouses: Mark and Ann Leiter, Victoria and Dan Wagner, Beth Ann and Brian Philipps, Balinda and Mike Cash, Teresa and Doug Miller, Lori and Jeff King, Richard Loxley, Jennifer and Ed Sollenberger, 24 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin H. Vance, daughter: Linda Loxley, parents: John Powers and Harriet (Covington) Powers Hudson, sister: Beulah Covington, half sisters: Lottie Bell, Florence Busser, Hazel Moody and half brother: Russell Powers. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Mercy Siena for the loving care given to Geneva over the past several years. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood) with Rev. Ed Sollenberger officiating. Interment will follow the service at Maple Hill Cemetery in Tipp City. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services.
