JOHN, Professor Emeritus George Age 91 of Riverside Ohio passed away Monday February 25, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born November 24, 1921 in Bellaire, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Anne, two sons Mark and Craig, their wives and four granddaughters. He is also survived by his brother Emile John and sister Nellie Keyser. He served in the US Army in WW II and was a translator of both Arabic and German. George graduated from Ohio State University
with a Doctorate in Nuclear Chemistry in 1950. He worked briefly at the Materials Lab before becoming a Professor of Physics at the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. George taught from 1956 until he retired at age 71 in 1992, though he continued to consult with faculty and students as a specialist in Mossbauer Spectrometry until his passing. George was an active member of Saint Mark's Episcopal Church where he was a senior warden, a lay reader, a cantor and sang in the choir. He also served for many years on the Faith in Life Commission of the Diocese of Southern Ohio. He was an elected member of the Montgomery County Board of Education for 20 years and did service as President of the Board. Memorial services will be held Saturday March 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, 456 Woodman Drive, Dayton, Ohio 45431. Reception will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Saint Mark's Episcopal Church.
