BOYKIN-RAKESTRAW, Gwendolyn age 66 of Dayton, was born on June 17, 1947 to the late Ida Mae Roberson and George Rakestraw in Birmingham, AL. She was a graduate of Dunbar High School, class of 1965, and retired from Truck and Bus; a division of General Motors following 16 years of service. Gwendolyn gave her life to Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served on the Kitchen Ministry. She leaves to cherish precious memories: her loving and devoted husband and caregiver, Robert Boykin; children, Sharon R. Dukes (Milton), Shawn Bernard Boykin (Darlene) and Robert A. Boykin; grandchildren, Tere-ne', Shawn C., Gavin, Robert N., Jaylon and Milena; great grandchildren, Harmony and Larry Jr. "L.J."; sister, Anita (Hammond); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Funeral service 1:00 P.M., SATURDAY, December 28, 2013 at THE TABERNACLE BAPTIST CHURCH, 380 S. Broadway St, with Reverend Terry Logan, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment: Woodland Cemetery.
