News Death Notice

ALLEN, Harley L. Age 55 of Brentwood, TN, former native of Dayton, Ohio; passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 after a battle with cancer. Harley has left a legacy of music to the world. His writing changed the face of country music. Harlan Howard said: "Harley was the best damn songwriter to hit this town." "He was the real deal." He will live on in song and in our hearts. We thank him for these gifts and we will miss him dearly. Survived by wife, Deborah Nims Allen; children, Aaron Allen, Katelyn Allen, Maggie Allen & Jessica Cote; former spouse, Patricia Allen; 1 sister and 3 brothers. Preceded in death by his father, bluegrass legend, Red Allen; his mother, Clara Mae Allen; and a brother, Neal Allen. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church, 15354 Old Hickory Blvd., Nashville, with Pastor John Lestock officiating.
