News Death Notice

SARGENT, Dr. Jack Walker age 86 of Kettering, Ohio, passed away, Monday, July 2, 2013. He was born in Springfield, Ohio on December, 23, 1926 to Walker and Dorothy Sargent and spent most of his adult life in Dayton. He was a graduate of Wilber Wright High School, class of 1944 and The Ohio State University School of Dentistry in 1954. Jack retired after practicing 56 years and was a lifetime active member of the Dayton Dental Society, also assisting in local forensic Dental cases. He was a proud WWII Patriot and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in Japan, 1945-1946. Jack held a York Rite, Knights Templar as well as 32nd Scottish Rite Freemans degree at Alpha Masonic Lodge #729 Belmont, Ohio where he was a 60 year member. He was a passionate man who enjoyed many activities: running, Ham radio (K8BSM), flying, boating, reading, magic, multiple languages, and could build or fix anything! A friend to all that needed his help, he will be forever in our hearts. Jack is survived by Joanne, his devoted wife of 65 years; his daughter, Judi and three sons: Jack (Gwen), Scott, and Joe (Linda). He also leaves behind two brothers, Bill (Carol) and Jerry; sister-in-law, Debbie; eight grandchildren (his beloved Jayne), two great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Visitation 4-8 pm Monday, July 8, at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 1771 E. Dorothy Lane, Kettering. Service 10 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.
