News Death Notice

ROGERS, Joseph Alan "Joe" age 76, passed away on May 15, 2013. Joe was born May 14th, 1937 in Lexington, KY to the late Earl and Kathleen (Perry) Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jessie Hughes Rogers, daughter Jenise Rogers Smith of Nicholasville, KY and son Michael Rogers of Kettering, OH, grandchildren, Sean, Keegan, Braedon, Emmagrace, Kyrstin and Cameron. Joe obtained his undergraduate degree from Antioch University and graduate degree from Central Michigan University. Joe retired from NCR Corporation as the Corporate Ombudsman with 33 years of service. He was an advisor for the Dayton Junior Achievement program for over 30 years. Joe was a life member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and had served as National Leadership Training Director. He was a motorcycle safety instructor for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and Motorcycle Ohio for 25 years and was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association. Joe was a Lifetime Member of the NRA and certified handgun instructor for many years. He proudly served eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Alpha Lodge #729 F & AM and a Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Washington Heights Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering, with Masonic services beginning at 7pm. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10am. Burial will take place at Lexington Cemetery, 833 West Main St., Lexington, KY on Monday the 20TH at 2pm.
