Kenneth E. (Tex) CASTONGUAY


News Death Notice

CASTONGUAY, Kenneth E. "Tex" 91, of Xenia, beloved husband and father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away after a brief illness, Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born November 7, 1921, in Mixville, California, the son of Pierre and Sigrid Hansen Castonguay. He was a member of St. Brigid Church, and was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired as a firefighter with the Xenia Fire Division after 30 years of service and was employed part-time with Neeld Funeral Home, Inc. for 53 years. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne (DeWine) Castonguay, whom he married, February 25, 1945, four children, Kenneth A. "Andy" (Karen) Castonguay, Centerville, Suzette M. Castonguay (Ronald Hampton), Yellow Springs, and Maureen L. Castonguay (Robert Camp), Loudon, TN, and Jon P. (Mary Ann) Castonguay, Xenia, ten grandchildren, Kenneth Daniel (Tina) Castonguay, Xenia, Anjanette N. Castonguay, Xenia, Laurette M. (Brent) Nichols, Xenia, Kenneth Oemisch, Xenia, Paul D. (Jessica) Oemisch, Oak View, CA, Melissa S. Camp, Brooklyn, NY, Sean R. (Angela) Camp, Knoxville, TN, Mallory A. Castonguay, Anne R. Castonguay, and Jon T. Castonguay, all of Xenia, nine great-grandchildren (and one on the way), Sofia, Chloe, Corey, Randy, Alexia, Quinten G, Garrett D., Alyss M., Corbin E, by numerous nieces and nephews residing in California, and by many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by ten brothers and sisters. Kenny will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, Saturday, February 9, 2013, at St. Brigid Church, 312 Fairground Rd., Xenia, with Rev. John Krumm officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30pm Friday at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.
