News Death Notice

CARPENTER, Kenneth L. "Ken" age 89, of Kettering, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Born in Frankfort, KY, Ken retired from Citizen's Federal Savings after nearly 40 years of service. He was past president of Kiwanis Club, a member of Criterion Club, Dayton Blue Lodge #147, F&AM of Ohio, and a life member of VFW Post #9927, Kettering. A proud American, Ken was a veteran of WWII; he served in the US Army with Company D 749 Tank Battalion with rank of Staff Sergeant Tank Commander, and took part in the invasion of Normandy, France in June, 1944. Ken was a Charter Member of the WWII Veterans' Memorial in Washington, DC. Ken is preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Everett Carpenter; first wife, Janece; and brothers, Lee Carpenter and Bob Carpenter. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Faye; daughters, Diane Sawyer and Rebecca Tunnell; son, K. Douglas Carpenter and stepdaughter, Andrea (Don) Alexander; 6 grandchildren, Amanda, Eric, Kelly, Kerry, Brooke, and Ryan; step granddaughter, Denise, and 12 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Angenette Carpenter and Shirley Carpenter. A visitation will take place Monday, December 3, 2012 from 5:00-7:00PM at ROUTSONG FUNERAL HOME, 2100 E. Stroop Rd., Kettering. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at 10:00AM, with a visitation 1 hour prior, also at the funeral home. Burial in Miami Valley Memorial Gardens, Centerville.
