News Death Notice

TOWE, Lewis W. age 81, of Dayton, passed away on Monday afternoon, February 3, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton with his family at his side. He was born in Appalachia, Virginia on August 4, 1932. Lewis was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for Standard Oil and Sohio Oil Company, by running a service station in Tipp City, Ohio. He bought Baker Heating & Cooling in the 1970's and managed it as president and made service calls up until 2013 when he retired at the age of 80. He enjoyed travel and has been to many states in the U.S., as well as Mexico, several European countries and China. He spent many weekends in Vevay, Indiana; enjoying wildlife and riding an ATV. Preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Bessie Towe. Survived by his daughters, Lisa (Towe) Harlett and Lorna (Towe) Black; granddaughters, Jennifer & Heather Harlett; grandsons, Dominic & Jordan Black; his former wife, Norma Towe; brothers, Charles, Ernest, Samuel, Jim & Carl Towe, their wives and children as well as a large extended family. Funeral service 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014 at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, "Northridge Chapel," 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Cremation to follow. Inurment Dayton National Cemetery.
