News Death Notice
KUNTZ, Martin C. age 91, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2012 at Miami Valley Hospital with his loving family by his side. Martin was born in Dayton on October 14, 1921 to parents Isabel and Martin Kuntz. He attended Georgetown Prep, Notre Dame, and ended his studies at University of Dayton. He was a B-24 pilot in the China, Burma, India Theater. Upon his return, he went to work for his family's business which was the Peter Kuntz Co. He ended his career as president upon the sale of the company in 1986. Martin was an avid skier, tennis player and nationally ranked in squash, because of these pursuits, he earned the name of "Sport" by his grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful bride of 69 yrs., Patricia (Ewing); his sons, Mick Kuntz (Rose) and George Kuntz (Carol); his daughters,, Mary Pat Marques (John) and Dottie Sullivan (Chick). He also leaves 10 precious grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Peter and a sister, Izzy Schaeffer. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 218 K Street, Dayton, Ohio 45409. Private interment Family Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery. Marty will be missed by both family and friends. Marty epitomized those who have earned the distinction of being the “The Greatest Generation.” This group went off to foreign lands in service of their country during a most perilous time to do extraordinary things - then returned home to become good citizens and great Americans. Marty did what only a few have done: “He slipped the surly bonds of earth, and danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings…”
And then there was his eggnog…
