News Death Notice

LAYTON, Ronald D. Huber Heights resident Ronald D. Layton, 81, died December 6, 2012 , with his daughters and wife by his side at Miami Valley Hospital after a long bout with illness. Ronald was born June 10, 1931 in Blue Creek Ohio, to Carey Gordon Layton and Bernice Evans (Lusk). Ronald was known for his love of nature, hunting and his farm in Blue Creek. Ron was an ambitious man, who would accomplish anything he set his mind to. At the age of 17, Ronald joined the Army-Air Corp/Air Force serving in Africa during the Korean War. After leaving the military, Ronald began his civilian work at Thom McCann Shoes briefly before going to the NCR Corporation where he progressed to a management role. After 15 years he left NCR to join Elano Corporation where he achieved a management position as Foreman; eventually retiring in 1991. Ronald was a dedicated family man, who is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Twila of 35 years; three daughters, Denise Shew, Deborah Layton-Root (David), and Ronda Lakin (Robert); eight grandchildren, Jeremiah, Annalisa, Sara, Stacey, Elizabeth, Jason, Katelynn and Jennifer. He is also survived by his extended family/stepchildren, Linda Randals, Chuck Glasgow (Kathy), Diane Rue-Glasgow and eight grandchildren, Ramie, Kelly, Charlie, Mindy, Heather, Alex, Carrie and Katelynn, plus a total of eight great-grandchildren. Ronald is also survived by his Aunt Luellen Young from Naples, Florida and pre-deceased by his bother Terry Layton whom he loved deeply. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at Aldergate Church 5465 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights on December 13, 2012 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
