News Death Notice

BROWN, Sarah Louise age 91, of Dayton, passed Tuesday, October 9, 2012. She was born to the late Saywood and Annie Burrell, June 15, 1921 in Middlesex, VA. Sarah moved to Pennsylvania where she graduated from Teddyffrin-Easttown Joint High School in Berwyn, PA. She later completed coursework in Columbus, OH, where she lived with family before moving to Dayton in 1949. She met and married the late Albert Brown in Dayton where their marriage lasted for 50 years. Sarah worked as a Supply Clerk for the Defense Electronic Supply Center until she retired in 1985 after 35 years of service. Sarah was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served as Secretary of Sunday School Class #4 for many years. She loved to work in her garden and debate about current events. Sarah, the eldest of 3 children, was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence T. Burrell (Helen) of Wayne, PA. Sarah is survived by daughter, Deborah Y. Brown of Dayton; grandson, Darnell E. Brown, Sr. (Mary); great-grandchildren, Darnell E. Jr., Cierra L., Danielle M. Brown; dear brother, Ahmed Abdullah (Hadiyah) and a host of nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends. Service of memory Monday, October 15, 2012 11:00 a.m. Tabernacle Baptist Church 380 S. Broadway Ave., Rev. Ernest E. Graves, officiating. Public viewing after 9:00 a.m. at the church where the family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
