MERRITT, Sarah Louise age 20 of Tipp City, Ohio died tragically Wednesday March 21st, 2007 in Hilton Head, SC. Born April 14, 1986 in Dayton, Ohio to Tom O. and Tamora L. (Miller) Merritt. Sarah was a 2004 graduate of Tippecanoe High School and currently a junior at Ohio University where she was a player on the Ohio University Bobcat soccer team. She was majoring in Education with the hopes of returning to her high school alma mater to teach and coach. She was previously employed at the Tipp City Dairy Queen and Trimble in Huber Heights. Sarah was blessed with many talents. In high school she participated in softball, track, and basketball but was best known as a standout soccer player for the Tippecanoe Lady Red Devils and as such was awarded First Team All-Ohio in 2002 and 2003, a 2004 Rae Burick Women in Sports Award Finalist, and the prestigious NSCAA 2003 Women's Soccer First Team All-American. Sarah was an accomplished singer and pianist. She participated in her high school Show Choir and was the Symphonic Choir President in 2004. She was the 2004 Senior Class President and was also voted Homecoming Queen that same year. Sarah's contagious smile and effervescent spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She was an amazing daughter, big sister and friend. Sarah is survived by her parents Tom and Tammy, her younger twin sisters Emily and Hannah, and the love of her life Seth Walton of Vandalia. Also surviving are grandmothers Anita Dotson, Centerville, and Louise Merritt, Huber Heights and grandfather Tom Miller, Centerville. Aunts and Uncles Tom and Nicole Miller, Beavercreek; Jeannette and John McGraw, Merritt Island, FL; Mary and Jim Richards, Huber Heights, and many loving cousins. Preceded in death by her grandfathers Dewey Dotson and Oval Merritt. Funeral services will be held 10:30 am Tuesday April 3rd at the Ginghamsburg United Methodist Church, 6759 S. County Road 25A, Tipp City with Pastor and friend Fred Gillenwater officiating. Visitation will be held Monday April 2nd at the church from 5 – 9 pm. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.
