News Death Notice

HOBBS, Steven Lee "Hobbsy" age 60 of Miamisburg, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 21, 1953 in Dayton, OH to the late William Edward Hobbs and Norma Virginia (Carpenter) Hobbs of Miamisburg. In addition to his father, Hobbsy was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce K. (Perry) Hobbs in 1979 and a brother, Billy Jo Hobbs in 1948. Hobbsy is survived by his loving mother Norma; son, Steven E. (Victoria) Hobbs of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Brittany, Courtney and Aaron; siblings, Johnnie Hobbs of Miamisburg and Michael (Bonnie) Hobbs of Columbus; a nephew, Billy (Leslie) Hobbs; niece, Anne Thomas and close friends, Lenual (Melody) Jones, Ed Reed, Ronnie Fortney, Govan Fox and his neighbor, Dave. Hobbsy was a 1972 graduate of Miamisburg High School and shortly after began his life-long career as a tool and die maker for Dayton Progress, West Carrollton. He was a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Reds and enjoyed collecting Miller High Life and Beatles memorabilia. Hobbsy was known to be a free spirit and spent many years working with muscle cars and motorcycles. His motto was "just be happy and let it be". Family will receive friends from 2:00 - 5:00 PM Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 11:00 AM Monday, August 18, 2014 also at the funeral home and officiated by a Dignity Memorial Celebrant. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg.
