News Death Notice

WHALEY, Sr. W. David "Dave" age 69 of Englewood, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Dave was retired from Borden Dairy. He was a veteran of Vietnam having proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964-1967. Dave was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 97 where he served as State President and lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 5434 in Union. He was also a former coach for Meadowdale Little Lions and S.A.Y Soccer. Dave loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and a proud owner of a 1997 Harley Davidson. He is survived by his wife of 46 years: Peggy (Kastner) Whaley, son: Major William David (Tammy) Whaley Jr. of CO, grandsons: Owen David and Isaac William Whaley, sister: Marjorie (Allen) Cornelius of Trotwood, sister-in-law: Anita DeeDee Harrison, 2 sisters-in-law, 3 brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Harry and Kathryn (Watson) Whaley, brother: Tony Whaley and sisters: Mary Beth Rush and Melinda Kay Hughes. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). Interment will follow the service at the Dayton National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
