News Death Notice
CARTON, Wanda ODell (Patterson) age 83, formerly of Coshocton, Ohio, died on September 7, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. Wanda was living in Kettering, Ohio, and is predeceased by her parents, Carl and Catharine Patterson, her sister, Patricia, her brother, Carl, and her beloved husband, Thomas W. Carton, son of Thomas A. and Irene of Coshocton. Wanda and Thomas, were fortunate to have had eight loving children, all of whom are living. Wanda is survived by her eight children; Thomas Jr. of Dublin, Catharine (Pedersen) of Centerville, Kevin and Janette and Caroline (Phipps) of Kettering, Eve (Francis) of Aurora, Margaret (Imel) and Suzanne of Portland, Oregon; her sixteen grandchildren, Thomas III, Matthew, Steven; Kirk, Eric and Grant Pedersen; Abigail and Caroline; Bridget and Brittany Duncan; Daniel Wright, Paul and Sarah Imel; Meghan Phipps, Madeline Lybrook and Melissa Moore; and her seven great grandchildren, Morgan, Therese, Avery, Carson, Charlotte, Jayden and Mayson. Wanda graduated from Coshocton High School and Columbus Business University, as well as the University of Dayton, where she received her B.A. degree in Communications and her Masters degree in Education and Allied Professions, majoring in Social Agency Counseling. Wanda was a Life Member of the University of Dayton Lifelong Learning Institute. She had been employed by the University of Dayton and the Southwest Community Counseling Center. In addition, Wanda served as a long-time reporter
for the Kettering-Oakwood Times, with her column covering local and school sports for the community. Wanda led a very active life, including being a member of the local Sweet Adelines chapter and the Dayton Synchronettes. She was an avid bridge player and bike rider, and participated in the Senior Olympics. Wanda was a member of the Ascension Catholic Church in Kettering and was loved by her family and friends. A service in honor of Wanda will be held at a later date.
