News Death Notice

METCALF, Waverner (Wade) age 65, of Dayton, born January 21, 1948 in Hamilton, Alabama, passed away September 10, 2013 at Grandview Hospital following a lengthy illness. He retired from National Geographic in Corinth, MS after many years of service. Wade served on the Deacon Board at New Covenant Baptist Church. He was a member of God's Lighthouse Community Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Crawford and Catherine Metcalf, four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include his sons, Tony (Treace) of Dayton, David, Steven (Christie), both of Corinth, MS; brother, Hubert Metcalf of New Jersey; sisters, Lorene Humphrey of Mississippi, Jurdene (Lamar) Spears, Minnie (Charlie) Hollis, Robbie Lennon, Christine Crump, all of Dayton; 11 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Pastor J. J. Pruitt officiating. Interment West Memory Gardens. Visitation 9 am Saturday at the funeral home until time of service. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Thanks to all for their loving help.
