ALLEN, William R. "Bill" age 81 of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at Harborside Care Center in Troy. Bill was born September 17, 1924 in Cookeville, TN, son of the late Hubert A. & Angeline (Hix) Allen. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II was retired from TRW-Globe Motors. Bill was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Vandalia, was the Past Master, Tippecanoe Masonic Lodge #147 F&AM, Past Patron of the Tippecanoe Chapter OES, a member of the Miami Valley Scottish Rite, the Antioch Shrine Temple, Royal order of Jesters, Dayton, the VFW Post #9582 and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. Preceded by 3 sisters, Edna, Charlotte, and Betty, and 1 great-great-grandson. Bill is survived by his wife, Clairette; 2 sons, R. Bruce & wife, Jean Allen of St. Mary's, OH and Wm. Raymond & wife, Mary Allen of FL; 3 sisters, Esther Becher, Mildred Dillon and Shirley McWain; 1 brother, David A. Allen & wife, Barbara; 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, and numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, March 31, 2006 at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Gil Santiago officiating. Burial to follow Forest Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5 to 8 pm with the Masonic Service to be held at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Miami County Hospice or to the Antioch Shrine Temple in Bill's memory.
