Dortha Gray Obituary

News Death Notice

GRAY, Dortha Louise Age 79, passed away November 10, 2010. Dortha was born October 24, 1931 in Staunton Twp., to the late Dorothy and Walter Sweigart. She is survived by her husband, Paul B. Gray, her sister Janet and Charles Smith, her children, Toni and Jeffrey Fashner, John M. Fackler, Chesta and Tim Jewett, adopted daughter Diana L. Gray, three grandchildren, Bo Daniel Zwolski and Becky, Mandi and Jason Wood, Jake and Amy Fashner. Two great-grandchildren, Jace Jeffery Wood, Kennedy Marie Fashner. Dortha graduated from Bradford High School in 1950 and was a majorette in the marching band. Dortha had a beautiful easy smile for everyone, and never knew a stranger. She loved to laugh, she loved to play the organ, she loved her dogs and she loved her husband Gray. "Everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle. Live simply, love generously, care deeply, and speak kindly....leave the rest to god." In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton. Dortha made a noble gift of her remains to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University so that future physicians will learn and train others with the knowledge that gained. Our family would like to extend our deepest thanks to the Hospice of Dayton staff, Tonya Kuntz, Bethany Hodge, Dianna Irwin and Lois Scott for their warm and loving care of Dortha. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for Dortha on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 6:30pm at the Grace Brethren Village Community Center, 1010 Taywood Rd., Englewood, OH 45322. Dortha, you'll never walk alone, with love, Gray.

Chesta, Toni, and John,
I have a lot of fond memories of working with Dottie. I loved to hear her laugh, which she did often! She was always willing to help anyone in need, and there was never any doubt of how much she loved her children and grandchildren. Denny and I have you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Phyllis

To the family,
Aunt Dot was always so open and welcoming to our family. She will be missed in this world by those who knew her...she was always so positive and warm. Our family will miss her deeply. I hope that she can be with my Dad now. And, I hope that you all find comfort in remembering the happy moments of her life. She was truly a great lady. Our prayers are with you. The Najarians
