Bubba was a gentle giant, he loved football and I remember the jolly green fairy he played once in High School. He was a friend and once scared my cousins from Hazard, by jumping out of his car at a traffic light and shaking my car, my cousins thought they were gonna die and I was sitting there laughing. Bubba will truly be missed! May he rest in peace.

Bubba was the best. Everyone's friend. The gentle giant. Smart, kind, understanding. I think Bubba lived on Lexington Avenue or there about, so we were close neighbors. My deepest condolences to his family on the loss of this great man and "leader" to so many. Gone way too soon. We love you Bubba.

He rescued me during my freshman year at CW. Got me safely into a classroom during some rioting. I was 13 and scared witless. I have never forgotten his kindness.

Thanks Buba for your protection during our school riots.

My brother Dave Herman played football with Doug. There are several things I remember about him. He used to come over and have dinner with us. He loved my mom's spaghetti. In the early 70's there were riots at C.W., My brother, Dave and Doug use to try to break them up. I was about 9 or 10 when Doug was at our house. He was a giant to me. My friend and I were on the other side of a five-foot fence. He reach over the fence and lifted both of us, (at the same time) over the fence. One day I was out walking up the street. He came driving by in an old beat up Falcon. He was taking some pop bottles up to Davue carry out on Salem. He took me with him and bought me a candy. The next time I saw him, he came to our house to visit. He was driving a brand new van that had a T.V. in it. That was rare back in the day. Rest in peace Doug...........
