Edna Custer Obituary
News Death Notice
CUSTER, Edna M. (Oda-Heid) of Union, passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 at her residence making her exactly 92 by passing away on her birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Oda and Thelma (Onkst-Oda) Booker, her first husband, Robert G Heid, and her second husband, John G Custer, brothers, Carl E Oda and John P Oda. Edna is survived by her daughter, Karen Heid of Union, son, Bob Heid of Washington Twp; Bertha (whom she thought of as a daughter); grandchildren: Chanin (Ron) Birkhahn, Chele Heid and Charla (Matt) Anspach; 5 great grandchildren; sister, Freda Hill of Miamisburg; special angel in her last days: Maria; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. For approximately 37 years at both Maple St and Burton Ave locations, she operated her beauty shop, which provided an income, after the death of Robert, for her to raise and care for her children. Edna most valued those precious times she spent with her grandchildren. Through out her life to include retirement she loved entertaining which often included playing games, especially euchre. Special thanks to personnel at Hospice of Dayton for love and concern, especially Donna RN. Family and friends may call 5 - 8 pm Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - ENGLEWOOD CHAPEL, 675 W Wenger Rd. A Tribute to her Life, 10 am Wednesday at the funeral home. My deepest condolences to Karen & Bob. Having spent a lot of time with my Aunt Edna, I know that she thought the world of her children and her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
