News Death Notice

SCHROEDER, Janet A. "Jan" Age 70 of Beavercreek, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 7, 1938 in Dayton to the late Harley "Dusty" and Doris (Caylor) Pummill. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald "Ron" Pummill. She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, Richard L. Schroeder; 3 children and their spouses, Stephen W. and Deborah Schroeder, Deborah L. and Tim Roark, Michael J. and Lori Schroeder; grandchildren, Christopher and wife Deana, Kimberly and husband Kyle, Seana, Stacey, Allison and Lauren; great grandchildren, Olivia, Tabitha and Rebecca; special friends, JoAnn Dwyer, John and Tammy Beecroft and family; as well as many other friends, including bowling associates, too numerous to mention. Besides being a loving wife and mother, Jan was a secretary for the Beavercreek School System, retiring after 37 years of service. She was a member of the Dayton Women's Bowling Association for 50 years. She served on its Board of Directors for 38 years in which she held many positions, including President for 9 years. In 1990, Jan was elected to the Dayton Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame for meritorious service. On the National level, she served as delegate for WIBC annual meetings. In 1993 she was elected to the Ohio WBA Board of Directors. She was a member of the National 600 Club, the Buckeye 600 Club, the National Women's Bowling Writers, the Buckeye Women's Bowling Writers and the Ohio Local Association President's Club where she served as President for 2 years. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME-BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Rd. with Pastor Rande Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Interment in Valley View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of Dayton. Condolences may be expressed to her family at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
