News Death Notice
MUNDY, Clarice Ellen age 97, departed this life October 9th. She was born in Gainesville, GA on April 21, 1916, to the late Hiram A. and Flora Cantrell McClure. The family moved to Hamilton, OH when she was 6 years old. Having been an honor roll student straight through, she graduated from Hamilton High School in 1935. She attended Wilberforce Extension Classes for two summers. Later Clarice completed cosmetology classes at West Kentucky Training School which is now known as West Kentucky Institute. At that time she became the owner and operator of a 3 stall beauty shop for 10 years. After closing the shop, Clarice worked in the office of the Hollywood Brands Candy, First National Bank of Centralia, IL and the Dayton Board of Education. Her last work position was secretary of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. With her husband and son, the late Rev. Dr. L. W. Mundy and Lewis Frederick Mundy, they served four parishes - Bardstown, KY; Marion, IN; Paducah, KY; and Centralia, IL. Down through the years, she has served as president of the General Missions, sang in the choir, and volunteered for a short period of time as interim organist at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Clarice leaves to cherish her memory, a sister Tiney M. Crosby; nieces Nancy Battle (Keith), Olivia Cardwell, Wynette Hill (Jeff), Karen McClure (Rosenna), Beverly Leigh (Jim); nephews Kevin Bean (Valencia), Clarence I. McClure (Ruth), C. Dale McClure (Tameko); daughter-in-law Doris Mundy; grandchildren Rhonda, Derrick, and Dennis; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3300 W. Third St. Rev. Samuel N. Winston, Jr. officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 9:00 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Clarice E. Mundy to the building fund of Mt.
