News Death Notice
DELK, Darrell D. Age 75, of Arcanum, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 2, 2012, while at his home, surrounded by his family. Darrell was a lifetime Darke County farmer who had a tremendous love for the land. Darrell was also an educator who taught in the public schools for 32 years, having served for 25 years at Northmont Junior High, six years at Trotwood Madison City Schools, and one year at Lake Forest Junior High School in Illinois. A graduate of Manchester College, Darrell also attended the Ohio State University School of Agriculture, Miami University, and Lake Forest College. Darrell was a lifetime follower and servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, and he had a passion for studying the Bible. As a history teacher and advocate of liberty, Darrell has always believed a nation's ultimate well-being depends upon a firm belief in the Divine and the degree to which its citizens' behaviors mirror God's standards. Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Carl Delk. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jennie (Groff) Delk; his son, Gladden Delk, and his wife, Kristin (Walker) Delk, and their four children: Emily, Reagan, Logan, and Austin Delk; his daughter Velvet Lee (Delk) Welz, her husband, Bill Welz, and her children: Evan and Joe Desjardins and Brittany Welz. Darrell is also survived by his mother, Ruby (Miller) Delk and his three siblings: Nola (Delk) Keeney, Helen (Delk) Peters, James Delk and his wife, Sharon. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 6, 2012, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Castine Church of the Brethren, 624 U.S. 127, Arcanum, Ohio, with a memorial service starting at 7:00 p.m. Condolences may be expressed online at: www.RogersFuneralHomes.com
