ASKINS, Ethel L. age 92, of Germantown, OH, passed away, Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Kingston of Miamisburg. She was born in Middletown, OH, on February 20, 1922, to the late Richard and Mildred (Barkalow) Gehron. She was a member of Germantown High School Alumni ~ Class of 1940; Germantown United Methodist Church, Twin Valley Garden Club, Regal Red Hatters; and served as a Girl Scout Leader for more than 25 years. Ethel and her husband Boyd, owned and operated Askins Dry Cleaners in Germantown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Raymond "Boyd" Askins; a son, Gregory Scott Askins; brothers, Ray & Cecil Gehron; and a sister, JoAnn Haller. She is survived by son, Emory (Violet) Askins; and her daughter, Deborah (David) Eby all of Germantown; 4 grandchildren, Scott (Kristin Zychowski) Askins of Fountain Hills, AZ, Ramona (Joseph) Dunphy of Waxhaw, NC, Rachael (Kyle) Forstrom of Steilacoom, WA and Lt. Nicholas (Ashley) Eby of Bury St. Edmunds, UK; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kailey and Colton Dunphy; her brothers, David (Loretta) Gehron, Rick Gehron, and Fred (Karen) Gehron; her sisters, Edna McCall, Evelyn Smith, Rosemary Stevens, and Ann (John) Weaver; numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call 5-8 p.m., Sunday March 30, at the Dalton Funeral Home, Corner of State Route 4 & Weaver Rd., Germantown. The Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, at the Germantown United Methodist Church, 525 Farmersville Pike, Germantown, with Pastor Gary Wheeler officiating. Burial will be at Germantown Union Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Germantown United Methodist Church Building Fund or to Hospice of Dayton.
