DRAKE, J. Michael passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio. Mike was born July 30, 1952 in Marion, Ohio. He was preceded in death by family members John & Florence Burke, Lucille Anderson & Kelsey Drake, Carl J. Hammaker Jr., and Mary J. Piekenbrock. Mike is survived by his loving wife Judy K. Piekenbrock Drake, and their children: Ryan (Amy), Shaun (Catie), and Cory; grandchildren: Beau, Zachary, and Alayna; parents Richard and Patricia Drake of Fairborn; siblings: Marsh (Tim) Scully and Ric Drake; nephew Christopher Copenhefer; niece, Kelli Scheid; his in-laws: Lynne Hammaker and Bill Farrand, Connie (Jim) Piekenbrock; nephews Carl and Dan Hammaker, Jason, Mike and Matt Piekenbrock and a host of loving friends and Mollie, his faithful canine. Mike married the love of his life, Judy, on August 18, 1979. He belonged to St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. Mike was a member of St. Albert Bell Choir, St. Albert PTO, and the Alter High School Booster Association. He was an avid supporter of the Alter Knights Football team serving as a statistician. Mike was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need especially volunteering as a Hospice volunteer and at the Gateway Men's Shelter. He worked for the Federal Government Department of Social Security Administration for over 36 years. Throughout Mike's career, he was recognized multiple times for his exemplary performance by the Social Security Administration. He also taught at Sinclair Community College as an adjunct professor of Biology, and at Trinity High School in Shaker Heights, Ohio. The family will receive friends in the gathering space, at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church 3033 Far Hills Ave. Dayton, Ohio 45429, from 9:30 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 16, 2013.
