KENNARD, John B. A hard-working, people person and lifelong Democrat passed away Monday March 4, 2013 at Walnut Creek Nursing Center at the age of 86. John was born January 1, 1927 in Johnson County, Kentucky to Maud (Adams) and John Warren Kennard, 1 of 9 children. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Navy between 1944-1946, including time spent in Okinawa, Japan. John retired in 1980 from Delco Moraine Division of General Motors. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clara and siblings Oscar, Raymond, Roy, Sam, Myrtle, Malta, Dollie, and Vonnie. John is survived by his former wife Janis (Goble) Taylor of Dayton, son John K. Kennard (Carol) of Centerville, daughter Monica Holder, who lived in Beavercreek with and cared for him, step-children Elizabeth Ann Gee, Louise Burke, Grover Thurman, Thomas Thurman and Willie Thurman, five grandchildren David & Darin Willis, John A. (Emily), Eric, and Emily Kennard, and one great-granddaughter Darby Willis. The family will receive friends Thursday March 7 from 5-7 pm at CONNER & KOCH Home for Funerals, Cremations and Life Celebrations, 92 W. Franklin St. (S.R. 725), Bellbrook (937-848-6651). A remembrance will follow at 7:00 pm at CONNER & KOCH with Pastor Dave Ringhiser officiating. Burial in Highland Memorial Park, Staffordsville, Kentucky after services Saturday, 12:00 noon at Jones & Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville, Kentucky. In memory of John, contributions may be given to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
