GUTHRIE, John Lee Age 82, of Dayton, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at The Hospice of Dayton. John was born March 13, 1931 in Clinton County, Kentucky to the late Clarence E. & Mary E. (Beatty) Guthrie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jimmie Szarka; and by five brothers, Elmer, Kendrick, Clyde, Ray & Herbert. John was the owner & operator of the North Plaza Barber Shop for over 35 years. He was a member of Sulphur Grove United Methodist Church; a veteran of the United States Air Force; a member of the Huber Heights American Legion Post # 200; Millennium Masonic Lodge # 779 F & AM; and he enjoyed hunting and gardening. John is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Mary J. (Crockett) Guthrie; four children, Kim Lee Jackson-Richards & her husband, Robert Richards, Douglas (Pam), Stan (Becky) & Rod Guthrie; 10 grandchildren, Travis, Derek, John, Dylan, Madeline, Stephanie, Garrett, Sean, Emily & Kaitlyn; one great grandson, Gavyn; two brothers, Hugh & Gene Guthrie; and by his extended family & many good friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday (3/1) at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, Northridge Chapel, 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road, Dayton. Pastor Bill Hensley will officiate. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday at the Martin Funeral Home. Funeral service colleagues are invited to greet the family at 4:30 p.m. Friday and Masonic Lodge services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Contributions should be made to the .
