News Death Notice

THOMPSON, Dr. John Lee lifelong resident of Westerville, Ohio, passed away August 27, 2013, lived to be 80 years old with the motto: "Faster Horses, Older Whiskey and Younger Women!" A graduate of The Ohio State University Dental School and hometown Orthodontist for over 40 years, he loved to see people smile and nothing brought a smile to his face faster than seeing a good looking horse. John Thompson grew-up competing Saddlebred horses nationally and later owned and bred Thoroughbred racehorses at his farms in Aiken, SC and Westerville, Ohio. Dr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 27 years, Beth Thompson, of Westerville and stepson Dale Stinnett. He is also survived by his first wife, Helen O'Dell Thompson and their sons and daughters-in-law: JB Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Matt and Noelle Thompson and granddaughters Isabella and Tessa of Westerville, Mark and Jane Page Thompson of Aiken, SC; his daughter Mrs. Beth Thompson Stinson and grandchildren: Jacob, Nicole and Kali of Tipp City, OH. Preceded in death by his parents, George S. and Sara Lee Thompson. A lover of sports, Otterbein University basketball and Ohio State football to be specific and his support of the Westerville softball league meant he encountered many like minded fans and never met a stranger. His lifetime poker buddies will miss his physical and fiscal contributions to their monthly games as will his friends at Beulah Park miss his "sure thing" gambling style. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME. 55 E.
