Joyce A. ROMANO Obituary

News Death Notice

ROMANO, Joyce A. age 79, a 45 year resident of Beavercreek, passed from this world into Heaven peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 with love, and dignity surrounded by her adoring family. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Betty Standiford, numerous aunts and uncles and her beloved grandson, Charlie Moore. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Anthony (Tony) Romano, children David (Michelle) Romano, Terri (Terry) Bissonett and Ann (Kimball) Curry, grandchildren Nick (Holly), Chris and Joe Romano, Zach and Nicole Curry, great-grandchildren, Gianmichael and Carmine Romano, step-grandchildren Molly, Sam and Alex Wildman, Clint and Tara Bissionett, Matt and Wendy Arnold and step-great grandchildren Caleb and Katelynn Bissonett, Hadley and Brynne Arnold and Jayden Wildman and her sister Judy (Mike) Parrish. Joyce graduated from Morehead State College with a BA degree in Music. She taught school in New Jersey and Michigan and later at St. Luke School in Beavercreek from which she retired. She was a devout member of the St. Luke the Evangelist Parish in Beavercreek and of the St. Luke Leisure Club. Joyce loved music and at one time sang with a Beavercreek Women's Chorus. She had a love for reading and never tired of starting a new book. But her deep passion was her family. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and a caring doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She was never happier than when surrounded by family for whatever the occasion, be it baby sitting or for a birthday, holiday, baptism or just a family gathering. She felt truly blessed that she and Tony had their three children and most of their grandchildren and great -grandchildren living close to them in Beavercreek. Joyce loved to cook for them and was famous for her fabulous ltalian pasta and meatballs which were eagerly devoured by all. And the young ones knew they could always get a sweet from their "Nana." She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME- BEAVERCREEK CHAPEL, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd., Father Terry Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to thank the wonderful homecare nurses and staff of Hospice of Dayton. Their caring and dedication helped ease the burden during a very difficult time. Donations in Joyce's memory may be made to Hospice of Dayton or St. Luke Church. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com
