News Death Notice

PAYNE, Juanita age 90, of Dayton, went to be with her Lord and Savior October 24, 2013 at her home. Born in Indian Field, Kentucky and a resident of Dayton for the majority of her adult life. Juanita, affectionately known as "Jackie", was actively involved at Canaan M. B. Church before becoming a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she served on the Mother's Board. Preceded in death by her husband, Louis J. Payne; parents, Samuel and Margaret Jett; sisters, Fannie DeJernette, Farcie Clark, Viola Young, Ethel Thompson and Ruby Kendrick. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Phyllis (Ron), Allen (Ann), both of Dayton and Anthony Payne of Chicago, IL; brother, James (Opal) Jett; sisters, Roberta Embry and Dorothy Hand; sisters-in-law, Carrie Payne of Atlanta, GA and Beatrice Lott of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Shari (Colon) Sims, Annesa (Allen) Cheek, Lien and Lauren Payne; great grandchildren, Camren, Cayden, Avery and Austin; a host of other dear relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 380 S. Broadway Street. Interment Dayton National Cemetery. Visitation from 9 to 11 am. Family will receive friends from10 to 11 am. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N.
