News Death Notice
HAWKINS, Katherine "Kay" Loftin passed away on December 24, 2011, following a sudden illness. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on June 20, 1922, she graduated from Baylor University in Waco with a degree in Journalism and Business Administration. She met Stewart D. Hawkins in Texas where he was stationed as an Air Force pilot. They married on July 9, 1944, and eventually settled in Dayton, Ohio. Stu passed away on March 22, 2012. Kay is survived by her son, Stewart Jr., her daughter, Katherine "Kit", son-in-law Ian Randal Strock, 10 nieces and nephews, and many friends. To celebrate their love and life together, a memorial service for Kay and Stu will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Road, Kettering with visitation from 1:00-2:00PM. Stu's Masonic service will begin at 2:00PM. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pilot Dogs, Inc., 625 West Town St., Columbus, OH 43215 - note: honoring Kay Hawkins or to the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Office of Development - Educational Scholarship Fund, 1776 D St. NW Washington, DC 20006 - note: honoring Katherine L.
