News Death Notice
KERMAN, Mary Josephine (Smith) age 89 of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Brookhaven Nursing and Care Center where she was a resident for the past 10 years. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late: Clarence W. and Edna May (Swope) Smith. Mary Jo was a graduate of Roosevelt High School class of 1941. She was a longtime member of Fairview United Methodist Church in Dayton and taught Sunday School there for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Mary Jo was loved by everyone she met. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years: Earl W., children: Margaret Ann (James) Robinson of Troy, Kathy (Steve) Myers of IN, Dr. John Henry (Molly) Kerman of KY, Linda Jo (Jeff) Jones of Dayton, grandchildren: Andrew and Christopher Robinson, Peter (Brianna), Alex and Andrew Kerman, Sandra and Michael Jones, great grandchildren: Asher and Viviana Kerman, 3 nieces, 2 nephews, relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her sister: Virginia Riesinger. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brookhaven and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care given to Mary Jo. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood) with Rev. Barbara Weichel officiating. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dayton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
