Dear Ida and Family,
I am so saddened to hear about the passing of Dr. Gressis. I had the privilege of meeting your husband only once and remember his sharp wit and great sense of humor. What a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

We are all saddened to hear about Nick's passing. He was a good friend and colorful member of our finance department family. He had a kind spirit and brought us laughter, music, culture, and wisdom. I will always remember how he would teach us words of Greek origin by insisting that I look up many, many words. To our chagrin, Ida and I were often described by one such word, "Callipygianâ, a reference to the form of the statue Aphrodite.Nick had a vast and interesting music collection. He would get excited about
his latest CD and loved to share music from around the world. Whenever we
played his CD's in the office, people would stop by and ask, âWhat ARE you
listening to?âWe enjoyed discussing world events with Nick. He had a great knowledge of
history so he was able to share valuable insight. Some of our student
assistants liked to share their opinions. During work lulls it was not unusual
for an unruffled political debate to arise. He never got agitated with
differing opinions but would instead become amused.Nick embraced technology (NOT). He wouldn't use his office computer so it was
actually removed from his office (to make room for more books, no doubt). I
will always remember the paper grade book (that we feared would go out of
production) that I ordered for him every year. We often joked about his
resistance to technology and he was dubbed, Nick the Greek Dinosaur.Nick loved his family and we enjoyed news about all of you and your endeavors.
We feel like you were all part of our Finance family. Please know that we are
very sorry for your loss. We will miss Nick and I am happy to have had such an
enriching friendship with him. Rest in peace, Nick the Greek.

Wonderful memories working with Dr. Gressis back in the day at WSU! When he introduced himself he would say Dr. Gressis, rhymes with Dresses! :) Thoughts and prayers to the family from Georgia. Jillinda Falen

Dear Ida,
Hamid and I are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts go out to you and the boys and, of course, his namesake Nicolas. I'm sure little Nic could have learned a lot from his grandpa. Nick was generous with his time and attention and was a big help to me once I joined the faculty at RSCOB. I hope all of your wonderful memories bring you comfort. We will miss him!

Ida and sons:
I am so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. I really enjoyed the interactions I was fortunate to have with him and with you, Ida, as well. Nick was a man of many interests, and he was always proud to share his knowledge and his thoughts with me in the hallway or wherever I encountered him on campus or elsewhere. He was a wonderful colleague. He will be missed. I trust that the memories you have of s wonderful husband and father bring you joy in future years. Judy joins me in sending her sympathies to all of you.
