LUBBERS, Ray 89, of Springfield passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in his residence. Ray was born on February 9, 1928 in Springfield, Ohio to Paul L. and Emma (Knese) Lubbers. He had been employed as Part Owner/ Operator for Reco Sporting Goods for over 30 years and later worked for Fenton Foundry Supply as a Controller for 21 years. Ray was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and 1951 graduate of Wittenberg University. He was a member of K of C # 624, a scorekeeper for Catholic Central High School basketball for over 60 years, and a United States Army Korean War Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Patricia K. (Kelly) Lubbers; daughter, Kristin (Jay) Calme of Ft. Thomas, KY; two grandchildren, Ryan and Megan Calme and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin, in 2001, and two sisters, Nancy Duckwall and Mary Jane Williams. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00pm-4:00pm at the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Monday in St. Bernard Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Catholic Central Schools Boosters, St. Bernard Catholic Church or Hospice of the Miami Valley, 1948 N. Limestone St., Springfield, OH 45503.

My father (Jerry Hickey( and mother (Rosemarie Hickey) were very fond of Ray. I remember them coming to South Bend for a few occasions A very kind and great man. This is the beginning for Ray's journey. May his soul rest in peace and his family be blessed.
