After returning to Dayton from a 15 year stint with the Dayton Progress Corporation in Russia, I was deeply saddened to learn of my dear friend Cy Laughter's passing. No one I know of contributed more to Dayton's comeback after the exodus of NCR, Mead paper and GM than Cy. Among his many contributions was spearheading, along with George Gilfillen, CEO of the E.F. Macdonald company, the construction of the immensely successful Dayton Convention Center in the 1970s which revived downtown Dayton. And bringing in several high profile organizations for annual conventions - including the American Ham Radio Association, the North American Adult Video Store Operators and Celibacy United - which brought in fifty plus attendees.

Dear Audrey and Family----
Cy was very proud of his service to our country. I first met Cy when he stood up to the Oakwood council in support of a local veteran being able to properly display the American flag at his home. He fought and was wounded in combat to protect that right. Enjoyed his friendship during the short time that I knew him. He gave so much for others. Thank you for sharing him with us.
