News Death Notice

JOHNSON, Vollie Gale Age 71 of Brookville, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013. Vollie retired from Chrysler where he worked as a welder. He was a Charter Member of the VFW Post 9288 in Brookville. He loved the out of doors, especially fishing with his family and friends and was an accomplished fly maker. He was active for many years as a youth baseball, softball and pee wee football coach, as well as an umpire for mens softball. He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Regina "Jean" (Workman) Johnson, daughters and son-in-law: Tina & Brad Bolanger of Brookville, Leslie Johnson Englewood, son & daughter-in-law: Waide & Kim Johnson of Miamisburg, brothers & sisters-in-law: Colin & Janey Johnson of Huber Heights, Harry & Toby Johnson of Brookville, Bobby & Phyllis Johnson of West Alexandria, Victor & Jean Johnson of Lewisburg, Eric Johnson of Brookville, Doug Johnson of Brookville, sisters: Sherry Iles of New Lebanon, Sheila Straszheim of Enon, grandchildren: Bradley, Brittany, Andrew, Logan and Madison, father-in-law: Quinton Earl Linville of Brookville, brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Woody Linville of London, OH, Tony & Belinda Linville of Brookville, sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Donna & Robbie Chapman of Lewisburg. He was preceded in death by his parents: James E. & Nancy (Tipton) Johnson, brother: Louie Johnson, mother-in-law: Joann Linville, nephew: Ryan Straszheim, and niece: Melanie Jane Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood) with Rev. Coleen Beasecker officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens.
