Family-Placed Obituary

METSCHER, Paul B. Age 41, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Miami Valley Hospital. He was born December 2, 1966 in Dayton, Ohio. In 2001, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wright State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Henry Metscher. Paul leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers and sisters; Karen (Bill) Barnes of Miami Township, Jim Metscher of Plymouth, MA; Lisa (Vince) Mastrobuono of Vandalia; Janet Kirchmer of Centerville; nieces and nephews: Dawn (Joe) Schuh of Englewood; Justin and Katie Kirchmer of Centerville; Kathryn, Alyson, and Paul Metscher of Duxbury, MA; grand niece and grand nephew, Hannah & Ethan Schuh of Englewood; other relatives and friends. Paul was known for his tremendous strength, unending courage, persistence, and faith. He enjoyed gathering with family and friends, reading, sporting events, crossword puzzles, going to movies, and weekend adventures. Those he cared about will always remember his contagious smile and passion for life. Paul was one of the few who understood that life was more than what you see. He touched many hearts, will be sadly missed, and never forgotten. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 6430 Far Hills Ave. Centerville, OH. Pastor Fritz Wiese officiating. Interment, David's Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Paul's memory to the Miami Valley Hospital Foundation, Dialysis and Respiratory Funds, 31 Wyoming St., Dayton, OH 45409. Upon hearing the news about Paul I was deeply saddened. My memories are of Paul and my brother Steve running and playing as young boys and neighborhood best friends. I know that now he is finally running carefree once again.

For about ten years I was the chaplain in the dialysis unit at MVH. I saw Paul weekly and always enjoyed seeing him. He was a man of great courage in handling all that came his way He was inspirational to all of us. The world needs more people like Paul. He will be missed.

Paul was a great man. He never gave up on anything. I am very glad that I got to meet him and become close to him while he stayed at the hospital. He wil never be forgotten and I will miss him dearly.
