GRUTTENMEYER, Frederick E. age 89 of Dayton died Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Hospice of Dayton. He retired from NCR Corp., Dayton as a consulting mechanical engineer. He and his wife were golfing members of the NCR Country Club where he served as a Board Member. He was member of Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM (58 years) of Athens, Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, Antioch Shrine Temple of Dayton, and a lifetime member of VFW Post 9927, Kettering. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a Chief Petty Officer serving in the South Pacific Theatre. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary C. "Maidie" Gruttemeyer; a daughter, Terri Danzilo; granddaughter, Amy Miller; grandson, Chris (Meaghan) Danzilo; and a great grandson, Cadan Clay. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers. Funeral service will be Saturday 10:00 am at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Burial in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Friends may call Friday 7-9 pm at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery. Paramuthia Lodge 25 F&AM service Friday at 6:30 pm at funeral home.
