News Death Notice
HOLMES, Herschel K. age 78 of Huber Heights, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012. He was born in Crab Orchard, Kentucky on December 26, 1933 the son of James & Cora (Johnson) Holmes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a former member of the Faith Presbyterian Church in Huber Heights. He was a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop #491 of Huber Heights from 1975-2000 and was known by his family as a "Mr. Fix it" for all kinds of jobs around the house. He is survived by his wife 37 years Sandra (Esken) Holmes, 6 children Brian & Paula Holmes of Beavercreek, Tom & Lynn Hebb of Huber Heights, Holly & Kevin Thompson of New Jersey, Richie & Melody Hebb of Middleton, Kelly & Jim Wilmoth of Charlotte, NC, and Robin Bryan of Vandalia, 9 grandchildren Anthony Santos, Chelsea & Brett Smith, Aaron Holmes, Tyler Hebb, Sara Hebb, Whitney Holmes, Abbey Corn, Lindsey Corn and Jacob Wilmoth, a brother Anthony "Bud" Homes, brother-in-law and his best friend Gary Esken, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and sisters Dallas, Charles, Earl "Red", Pauline, Sheila and Clyde. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 6-8 pm in the BLESSING FUNERAL HOME, 11900 N. Dixie Dr. Tipp City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Paul Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens, Tipp City.
