News Death Notice

MENKE, Robert J. age 84, formerly of Anderson, IN, died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Rawlins House in Pendleton. He was the son of the late John Menke and Alma( (Tangeman) Menke. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 26, 1928. He was a 1947 graduate of Chaminade High School, Dayton and of the Cincinnati College of Pharmacy. Robert served in the Army during the Korean war. He married his wife of 59 years Martha Jean Ditzel on February 23, 1952. She preceded him in death November 3, 2011. Robert moved from Dayton, Ohio to the Madison County area in 1962. He had worked for Miami Lukens Drug Co, Dayton Economy Drug and retired from AM-FAC Drug Co. He was a member and served as an usher at St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a former Boy Scout Leader and volunteer at the Paramount Theater, He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, B.P.O. Elks, and RSVP Senior Citizens Euchre. He enjoyed bowling, gardening and loved the Cincinnati Reds. He is survived by Two Daughters: Zelma (Charles) Leslie, Dayton, OH, Kathryn (Dustin) Clarkson, Pendleton, IN, Three Sons: Robert J. (Vee) Menke, Jr., Kuwait, John (Cathy) Menke, Loveland, OH, Edward (Tereasa) Menke, Fishers, IN. 16 Grand Children & 21 Great-Grand Children. He was preceded in death by 5 brothers; John "Bud", Urb, Tom, Bill and Jim Menke. 2 Sisters; Betty O'Neil and Joanne Archer, and a grandson; John Wayne Menke. Arrangements are being handled by Armes-Hunt Funeral Home, 415 S. Main St., Fairmount, IN. The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 12 Noon Saturday, May 19, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Funeral service will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church at 12 Noon Saturday, May 19, 2012. Interment will be at Anderson Memorial Cemetery, Anderson, IN with Military Rites. Special Thanks to Fall Creek Retirement and Rowlins House for the wonderful care of both Bob and Martha.
