News Death Notice
SLACK, Vernetta B. 88, passed away Thursday May 24, 2012 at 10 Wilmington Place following a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 16, 1924 in Limaville, OH to Grace Gray and Leslie E. Cobb Sr. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Franklin G. Slack, sister Virgiline Beth Jones and brother Leslie E. Cobb Jr. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Purvis and husband Brad, sister Virginia Green and, sister-in-law Martha Cobb, nieces Leslie Ann Steele (Dave), Christine Cobb (Tom Fredrick), Roberta Krock (Ken), nephew David Green (Geneva), great nephews Zach Steele, and Kevin Slack and great nieces Shannan Steele, Cortney Davis, and Karen Krock. Vernetta lived most of her life in Limaville, OH and graduated from Alliance High School in Alliance, OH. She was a long time member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church of Alliance, OH and a current member of the Sulfur Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and reading. She will be sincerely missed by her family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, May 29, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Pastor Dan Held officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice or the Parkinson's Foundation.
