News Death Notice

ANDREWS, Vincent Gerard Dayton native, saxophonist, songwriter, leader of the VINCE ANDREWS BAND departed this life on Sat., July 7, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. Vince was born on Nov. 9, 1954 to Odessa R. and the late Henry "Bubbles" Andrews. He was a 1973 grad of Jefferson and a 1977 grad of Capital Univ.. Served as Resident Music Instructor for OSU from 1983-87. A phenomenally talented musician with over 14 recorded CDs, 90 musical titles, more than 7000 live stage performances. In 1996 Vince suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and had been battling disorders associated with TBI until his passing. Vince is preceded in death by his father. He leaves a devoted and loving family; mother Odessa R. Andrews, sister, Gail Andrews Turner (Leonard), Dayton, OH; niece, Erika Turner Wright (Lonnie) Columbus, OH; aunt, Johnnie Williams, Lansing, MI; and many relatives and friends. Funeral services 11 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2012, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 380 S. Broadway Avenue, Dayton, OH. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services.
