News Death Notice

WARD, James Douglas 79, born in Dayton, died Oct. 2, 2012 at Southbrook Care Center, Springfield. Surrounded by loved ones, his mind and body were freed from the prison of Alzheimer's. He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 46 years, and stepchildren Michael (Liz) Tayse, Painesville, OH; Mitchell (Cindy) Tayse, Columbus; and Maureen Tayse, New Carlisle. Also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; his brother, William Ward, Racine, OH; and sister, Rebecca Baughman, Dayton. He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Harold and Alice Rebecca Guth. Jim's father died when he was a child. He was a 1951 graduate of Wayne (Twp.) High School and 1956 graduate of OSU. Jim was an engineer for over 27 years at Lenz Company, Dayton, where he met his wife. He loved family, gardening, cars, travel, photography and food, not necessarily in that order. As a final gift his body was taken to Wright State University, Boonshoft School of Medicine. A memorial service is planned for Nov. 24, 4:00 PM, at West Charleston Church of the Brethren, 4817 State Route 202, Tipp City.
